SportsMed Physical Therapy operates five physical therapy clinics in Connecticut: Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport in Fairfield County, plus West Haven and Hamden in New Haven County. Connecticut's direct access law means no physician referral is required. Licensed therapists treat low back pain, rotator cuff injuries, vertigo and joint replacement recovery one-on-one.
No. Connecticut's direct access law lets you start physical therapy without a doctor's referral. You can book an evaluation with a qualified licensed physical therapist and begin treatment directly. If your symptoms have not improved after six visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, your therapist is required to refer you to a licensed healthcare provider. That safeguard keeps your care coordinated.
In practice: call a Connecticut clinic this week, be evaluated by a licensed PT, and start hands-on treatment in that first session. Bring your insurance card and photo ID. Some plans still require a referral for coverage even though state law does not, so we verify your benefits in advance and tell you what you'll owe.

What you pay depends on your plan's copay, deductible and visit limits rather than a list price. We verify your benefits before your first appointment and quote your expected per-visit cost up front. Self-pay rates are available if you're uninsured. We also handle Connecticut workers' compensation and motor vehicle accident claims, including the documentation your adjuster or attorney will need.
Your first visit runs about 45 to 60 minutes, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist.
