Knee Pain

Physical therapy is changing the way that we perceive the human body. It can help to prevent injuries and it can also help you to be bigger, better and stronger.

How Knee Therapy Works

physical_therapy_runner_knee_painOne of our very own physical therapists will work with you by first asking you various questions about your health, your lifestyle and your medical history. If your knee problem is the result of a trauma or if you have had a disease in the past that you believe is causing the pain then you will need to give us the details of your doctor so we can make sure that we are taking the right course of action.

Knee Therapy – Your Plan

The next step in the process would be to help you devise a personal treatment plan. In addition to this, we will also give you plenty of exercises as well, so you can increase your overall strength, flexibility and stability.

  • Heat/Ice Applications
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Ultrasound
  • Massage Therapy

In most cases, our physical therapy sessions will last well under an hour but they can vary from patient to patient. You will also find that the amount of sessions required will vary as well, depending on the amount of pain that you experience and the circumstances at the time.

Education and Exercise

Depending on the reason for your knee pain, there is a chance that you may also need a supportive aid. This can be anything from crutches to knee supports and more, until you can walk properly on your own. Of course, it is important that you learn how to use these devices properly so you don’t put yourself at risk of another injury and that is why your physical therapist will always show you the proper technique. Your physical therapist might ask you to use a cane and tell you which hand you should use to support your body with it.
