Benefits of a Functional Movement Assessment

The Functional Movement Assessment (FMA) provides a powerful tool for evaluating a person’s movement and identifying underlying issues that may contribute to pain, injury, or poor performance. Here are the key benefits:

1. Identifies Movement Dysfunction

FMA pinpoints imbalances, compensations, and limitations in how the body moves before they develop into injuries or chronic pain. It provides insight into how well joints, muscles, and the nervous system are working together.

2. Prevents Injury

By detecting dysfunctional movement patterns early, practitioners can create personalized corrective programs that reduce the risk of strain, overuse, and musculoskeletal injuries, especially for athletes and active individuals.

3. Improves Performance & Efficiency

FMA helps refine movement quality, allowing individuals to move with better control, strength, and coordination. This boosts performance in sports, exercise, and daily activities.

4. Informs Targeted Treatment Plans

Clinicians use FMA results to develop customized rehab or training strategies, ensuring each person addresses their specific weaknesses or mobility issues effectively.
