- Applying a gentle stretch to the neck can often ease and elongate tight muscles, allowing pinched nerves or compressed blood vessels to be released, ultimately relieving neck stiffness. – Lie down on your back and place a folded (lengthwise) hand towel under the curve at the back of your head. Grab the towel at both ends, and gently pull the towel up and away from your shoulders. Try to hold the position for at least 3 minutes. The key here is to be gentle, and relax your neck muscles. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times per-day or until you feel some relief.
